DDR4-2933 registered ECC limits

Registered buffering and ECC add one clock cycle of latency and reduce maximum bus frequency compared with unbuffered non-ECC DDR4. The 288-pin DDR4 interface caps transfer rate at 2933 MT/s and voltage at 1.20V, so higher-speed or lower-voltage modules will not operate at their rated settings. Population rules on the host platform may restrict total rank count per channel.

Installing the 288-pin RDIMM

Align the single key notch on the 288-pin edge connector with the DIMM socket key, press vertically until both retention clips engage, and verify identical part numbers when populating multiple slots.
