The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack-mount server system built for midsize and large enterprise workloads such as data warehousing, e-commerce, virtual desktop infrastructure and high-performance computing nodes. It ships new with two Intel Xeon E5-2640 v3 processors, 512 GB of DDR4 ECC memory and eight 1.2 TB SAS drives.

Consolidation and VDI focus

This configuration suits organizations that need strong multi-threaded CPU performance and large memory capacity for virtualization, databases or VDI. It is not intended for workloads that require GPU acceleration or more than two processor sockets.

512 GB DDR4 with 24 slots

The system provides 512 GB of registered DDR4 2133 MHz ECC memory across 16 populated DIMM slots, leaving eight slots free for expansion up to the 1.5 TB maximum supported by the Intel C610 chipset.
