Socket AM4 foundation

The GIGABYTE A520M DS3H is a micro-ATX motherboard built around the AMD A520 chipset for Socket AM4 processors. It supports Ryzen 5000 series and 3rd Gen Ryzen CPUs, including models with integrated Radeon graphics. A 5+3 phase digital PWM design delivers stable power to the processor. Four 288-pin DDR4 slots accept up to 128 GB of dual-channel memory.

Expansion and storage layout

One PCIe 3.0 x16 slot handles a discrete graphics card while two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots provide room for add-in cards. A single M.2 socket 3 M-key connector takes 2242, 2260 or 2280 drives with either SATA or PCIe 3.0 x4 and x2 NVMe signalling. Four SATA 6 Gb/s ports support RAID 0, 1 and 10 arrays for additional storage flexibility.

Thermals and everyday operation

The board relies on passive cooling for the VRM and chipset, so system airflow determines component temperatures. Realtek ALC887 audio provides 7.1-channel output through three rear jacks. A Realtek GbE LAN controller supplies 1 Gbps wired networking. Rear video outputs include DVI-D, DisplayPort and HDMI for use with Ryzen processors that feature integrated graphics.
