HTPC Development Kit

The Khadas VIM3L HTPC Kit bundles a development board with a heatsink, transparent case, metal plate, IR remote and two Wi-Fi antennas. CoreELEC with Kodi comes pre-installed for immediate media-centre use. It targets hobbyists who want a compact, ready-to-assemble platform for home-theatre projects.

Passive Cooling Capacity

The included New VIM Heatsink provides enough passive cooling for Android and CoreELEC workloads. The supplier notes that adding the 3705 Cooling Fan is recommended when running Linux or other third-party distributions. A thermal pad for the metal plate is offered as an optional accessory for extra heat dissipation.

Media Playback Scope

The board handles standard media-centre duties such as Kodi playback and IR remote control out of the box. High-fidelity audio formats including DSD, WAV and FLAC require the separate Tone Board VIMs Edition, which is not included.
