IoT Edge Device for Micro:bit

This LORDWORLD expansion board is built around a PCA9685 core chip and is made for makers who want to add motor and servo control to a Micro:bit project. It provides four motor driver pin sets and eight servo driver pin sets for multi-axis robots or kinetic art. An onboard microphone with an amplifier circuit enables sound volume level detection. An embedded 18650 battery holder includes a Battery Act button to wake the cell with one press.

Sustained Load Behaviour

During extended operation the PCA9685 drives multiple channels continuously, so the board's thermal performance depends on airflow around the chip and the current rating of each motor or servo channel. The 18650 cell voltage will sag under heavy simultaneous motor loads, which can reduce torque or trigger the Battery Act button's wake function if the cell dips too low. Plan duty cycles and cooling so the driver chip and battery stay within safe operating temperatures.
