Server ECC RDIMM Upgrade

This 128GB DDR4 2933 module is an ECC registered RDIMM built for TYAN S7100 series motherboards and Lenovo ThinkSystem SR860 and SR950 servers. It operates at 1.2V with CL21 latency and an 8Rx4 rank configuration. The registered buffer and error correction make it suitable only for workstation and server platforms; it will not work in standard desktop computers.

Capacity and Headroom

A single 128GB stick provides very high density for memory-intensive server workloads such as virtualization, large databases or in-memory analytics. The 8Rx4 organisation delivers this capacity within one 288-pin slot, leaving remaining DIMM sockets free for further expansion. Systems that cannot address 128GB per module or that require unbuffered or load-reduced DIMMs cannot use this memory.

DDR4 2933 Interface Limits

The module runs at the JEDEC-standard PC4-23400 2933 MT/s rate and is backward compatible with 2133, 2400 and 2666 MT/s bus speeds. Registered signalling adds one clock cycle of latency versus unbuffered DDR4, which is the expected trade-off for signal integrity at high capacity. Mixing this RDIMM with unbuffered or load-reduced modules is not supported and will prevent the system from booting.
