PCI to Serial Port Card
The SIIG CyberSerial Dual JJ-P02012 adds two 9-pin RS232 ports to a desktop system through a standard PCI slot. It targets users maintaining legacy industrial equipment, point-of-sale hardware, or older peripherals that still rely on serial connectivity. The card fits 32-bit or 64-bit PCI and PCI-X slots operating at 3.3V or 5V. It supports Windows platforms from 95 through Server 2003.
Capacity and headroom
Each port delivers up to 230 Kbps, which is sufficient for barcode scanners, receipt printers, and basic data-logging devices. The dual-port design lets two peripherals operate simultaneously without sharing bandwidth. Performance drops off when applications demand sustained throughput above the rated speed or when modern operating systems beyond the supported list are used. Jumper-configurable 5V or 12V power output on the ports can supply attached devices directly.
Thermals noise and power
As a passive add-in card with no moving parts, it produces no audible noise and adds negligible heat to the chassis. Power draw is limited to the PCI bus supply, requiring no external connectors or additional cooling. The low-profile bracket allows installation in compact cases where airflow is restricted. Operation remains stable within standard desktop temperature ranges.
