Versatile M.2 enclosure for portable SSD upgrades

The Vszerda enclosure turns a bare M.2 NVMe or SATA drive into a USB 3.1 Gen 2 external drive. It accepts M-key and B+M-key modules in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths up to 2 TB. The aluminium shell and thermal pad keep temperatures in check during sustained transfers. Plug-and-play operation works on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android without drivers.

10 Gbps headroom with clear protocol limits

The RTL9210B controller delivers up to 10 Gbps bandwidth, letting NVMe drives exceed 900 Mbytes/sec in real-world use. SATA-based M.2 drives are limited to 6 Gbps by the protocol itself. B-key-only SSDs, PCIe AHCI drives, mSATA modules and non-storage M.2 devices will not function in this enclosure.

Replaces basic USB 3.0 or SATA-only docks

Builders moving from a 5 Gbps adapter or a SATA-only enclosure gain the full NVMe speed ceiling for large media files and OS images. The jump is worthwhile when the source drive is a PCIe NVMe module and the host port supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 or 3.2 Gen 1. It does not help if the drive is SATA-only or the host is limited to USB 2.0.
