Connects PCIe x1, x4, x8 or x16 devices to a Raspberry Pi 5 via a 16PIN FFC cable and supplies 12V power through a header and DC jack
This adapter board connects a Raspberry Pi 5 to standard PCIe expansion cards through its 16PIN FFC interface. It targets makers and developers who need to add specialised I/O, storage or acceleration hardware to the Pi 5 platform. The board provides a physical x1 slot with an open-ended cutout that accepts x1, x4, x8 and x16 cards. A 12 V header and DC jack supply auxiliary power to the slot.
The link operates at PCIe x1 electrical width regardless of the card's physical size, so bandwidth is limited to a single lane. Under continuous load the 16PIN FFC cable maintains signal integrity for the x1 connection, while the dedicated 12 V supply rails keep power delivery stable for cards that draw from the slot. Throughput will scale with the Pi 5's Gen 2 lane speed and the attached device's own capabilities.
The adapter itself has no active cooling and adds negligible heat to the system. Any thermal output comes from the installed PCIe card and the Pi 5's own controller. Acoustic noise is limited to the card's own fan if present. The 12 V header and DC jack draw only the current required by the attached device, leaving the Pi 5's onboard regulator unaffected.

The board includes a 12 V header and DC jack to feed the slot’s 12 V pins; heat will depend on the power draw of the specific PCIe card you install.
You need a Raspberry Pi 5 and its 16‑pin FFC cable to link the Pi’s PCIe interface to the adapter’s 16‑pin connector.
Yes, the onboard PCIe x1 slot accepts x1, x4, x8 and x16 cards, so an older x1 card will seat and operate at x1 speed.
