It targets makers building headless sensors, media endpoints or lightweight edge nodes that need wireless connectivity in a tiny footprint. Power, storage, enclosure and peripherals are not included.

Sustained workload thermal behaviour

The quad-core processor runs at 1GHz and the VideoCore IV GPU supports 1080p30 video output, so extended streaming or compute tasks generate noticeable heat. The supplied aluminum heatsink attaches directly to the SoC and passively spreads that heat, helping the board maintain clock speeds during long runs without active cooling. Wireless 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2 remain stable while the CPU is loaded.

Connector layout and daily assembly

The 40-pin header follows the standard HAT pinout, letting you stack add-on boards or wire custom circuits without soldering. Mini HDMI and USB 2.0 OTG ports require the included adapters for full-size cables, which adds a step but keeps the board outline minimal.
