Target Systems

This OWC kit delivers 128 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory across eight 16 GB modules. It is built for Cisco UCS B200 M5, B480 M5, C220 M5, C240 M5 and C480 M5 servers that require registered DIMMs with error correction. It will not work in standard desktop computers or in systems that only accept unbuffered or load-reduced memory.

Registered ECC Requirement

The single specification that decides fit is the registered ECC RDIMM form factor. Each 288-pin module runs at DDR4 2933 (PC4-23400) with CL21 latency at 1.2 V and a 1Rx4 organisation. Systems that demand unbuffered ECC or LRDIMM modules cannot use this kit, and mixing registered with unbuffered memory is not supported.

Build Integration

The modules slot directly into the 288-pin DDR4 DIMM sockets of the listed Cisco UCS platforms. Backward compatibility with 2133, 2400 and 2666 MHz buses allows the kit to run at the highest speed the platform negotiates. No heat spreaders are fitted, so airflow clearance follows the server chassis design. The kit replaces Cisco part numbers HXMRX16G1RTH and UCSMRX16G1RTH.
