The Waveshare 2.13inch e-Paper Display HAT V4 is a 250×122 pixel black-and-white E-Ink module with a 40-pin GPIO header for Raspberry Pi series boards and Jetson Nano. It communicates over 3-wire or 4-wire SPI and includes an onboard voltage translator for 3.3V and 5V logic. No backlight is fitted; the panel retains its last image without power.
This HAT suits builders adding shelf labels, sensor dashboards or badge displays that must stay visible for weeks on a coin cell. The 0.3 s partial refresh and 26.4 mW typical refresh power support frequent updates. Buyers who want greyscale, colour or resolutions above 250×122 should look at larger e-Paper modules. Projects requiring video-rate animation or backlit viewing are not a fit.
The board measures 65×30.2 mm with a 48.55×23.71 mm active area and 0.194 mm dot pitch. It draws <0.01 µA in standby, leaving the Pi’s remaining GPIO pins and USB ports free for sensors, networking or storage. Example code for Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano, Arduino and STM32 is provided online, so integration starts without writing a driver from scratch.
