This 64 GB DDR4 module adds registered ECC memory to compatible Dell PowerEdge servers. It uses a 288-pin form factor and is built from OEM-grade components that pass Dell's first-pass yield requirements. The module is designed, tested and customised for Dell systems so it will not void the original hardware warranty. Buyers who need non-ECC or unbuffered memory for workstations or desktops should look elsewhere.

Replaces lower-capacity DDR4 RDIMMs

Swapping existing registered DIMMs for this 64 GB module increases total system memory without changing the memory architecture. The jump is worthwhile when workloads such as virtualisation, large databases or 3D imaging exceed the capacity of the currently installed kit. Systems that already run at the maximum supported DIMM count or that require a different memory speed grade cannot use this upgrade.
