The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server built for virtualization, database hosting, file storage, and backup workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4214 processors, each running at 2.2GHz with a 3.2GHz turbo frequency and twelve cores. The system includes 128GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across four 32GB modules. A PERC H730P controller with 2GB cache manages the four installed 1.92TB SATA solid-state drives.

Hot-Swap Bays and Redundant Power

Sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays support SAS, SATA, and SSD media for flexible storage expansion without downtime. Dual 750-watt platinum power supplies provide hot-plug redundancy to keep the server running during a module failure. The H730P controller enables RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60 along with pass-through mode. Integrated dual-port gigabit Ethernet and iDRAC 9 Express handle network connectivity and remote management. Front bezel and ready rails are not included.

Verify Rack Conversion and Memory Limits

Confirm whether your deployment uses the tower form factor or the optional rack conversion kit, as rails are not supplied. The board offers sixteen DDR4 slots with a maximum capacity of 1TB, so plan future memory upgrades within that ceiling. CPU sockets are LGA 3647 and both are already populated, preventing further processor additions. Ensure your rack depth and power distribution suit a 5U chassis with dual supplies.
