ThinkMate XS8-24S3 compatible DDR4 ECC RDIMM

This 8 GB registered DDR4 module runs at 3200 MT/s with CL22 latency and 1.20 V operation. It is built for the ThinkMate XS8-24S3 workstation and uses a single-rank 1Rx8 layout on a 288-pin RDIMM form factor. ECC and register buffering provide the error correction and signal integrity required by server-class motherboards. Major OEM DRAM from Samsung, Micron or Hynix is used throughout.

Thermals noise and power draw

Operating at the standard 1.20 V DDR4 voltage keeps power consumption low and heat output minimal in typical server workloads. The module has no heat spreader, relying on chassis airflow for cooling. Registered buffering reduces electrical load on the memory controller, contributing to stable operation under sustained use. Acoustic impact is negligible because the DIMM itself has no moving parts.

Upgrade path and when it makes sense

This DIMM replaces a failed or lower-capacity registered ECC module in a ThinkMate XS8-24S3 system. The jump is worthwhile when the workstation needs additional capacity for virtualisation, database or compute tasks that benefit from ECC protection. It is not suited for consumer desktop boards that require unbuffered non-ECC memory, nor for platforms that demand higher speeds or different pin counts.
