What this adapter does
This M.2 to mPCIe adapter lets you install a Key A/A-E or Key E M.2 Socket 1 module into a full-size or half-size mini PCI Express slot. It carries both PCIe and USB 2.0 signals, supporting wireless mini-cards such as WLAN, WWAN, Bluetooth, GPS or WiMAX modules in desktops and laptops.
Who it suits and who it does not
Builders adding a wireless card to a system with an available mini PCIe slot will find it a direct fit. Users whose M.2 module uses a different keying, requires a Key M, Key B or Key B+M interface, or needs a PCIe lane configuration not provided by the Socket 1 specification should choose a different adapter.
The deciding specification
The adapter implements M.2 Specification Revision 0.9 and PCI Express base Specification 1.1 at up to 2.5 Gbps alongside USB 2.0, and it only accepts M.2 Key A/A-E or Key E cards in the 3030 or 3042 form factors.
