Quad-socket compute density

The Supermicro SYS-8048B-TRFT is a 4U rack server populated with four Intel Xeon E7-4820 v2 processors running at 2.0 GHz with 2.5 GHz turbo. Each CPU provides eight cores, giving 32 cores total for heavily threaded workloads. The system ships with 1 TB of DDR3 1600 MHz registered ECC memory across 32 modules. It targets organisations that need maximum core count and memory capacity in a single chassis.

Hot-swap bays and redundant power

Twenty-four front-accessible 3.5″ trays accept SATA or SAS drives and support hot-plug replacement without downtime. The LSI MegaRAID 9361-8i controller provides eight internal SAS 12 Gb/s ports with 1 GB cache and battery backup, enabling RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Four 1620 W platinum-efficiency power supplies operate in redundant hot-swap configuration. A dedicated RJ45 port exposes IPMI 2.0 with KVM-over-LAN and virtual media for lights-out management.

Expansion slots and networking included

Eleven PCIe 3.0 slots — four x16 and seven x8 — remain available for additional controllers, network adapters or accelerators. Dual 10GBase-T RJ45 ports are provided by the installed Intel X540 add-in card. Onboard Matrox G200 graphics with 8 MB video memory handles basic console output. Front bezel and rack-mount rails are not included, so buyers must source them separately for cabinet installation.
