The Dell HT2DT is a 1.2TB 2.5-inch internal hard drive spinning at 10000 RPM with a SAS 12Gb/s interface. It is built for servers and workstations that need fast, reliable storage in a compact form factor. The drive ships new in original Dell packaging. Hot-swap support simplifies maintenance in multi-bay chassis.

Fits 2.5-inch hot-swap bays with SAS backplanes

Installation requires a 2.5-inch drive bay and a SAS 12Gb/s backplane or controller. The hot-swap tray lets you replace the unit without powering down the system. Its small form factor leaves room for additional drives in dense enclosures. A compatible SAS host adapter is needed to reach the rated transfer rate.

Replaces slower or smaller 2.5-inch SAS HDDs

This drive upgrades from lower-capacity or lower-RPM 2.5-inch SAS hard drives when more throughput and space are required. The jump is worthwhile for database logs, virtualization hosts or tiered storage pools that benefit from 10000 RPM performance. It does not suit workloads needing SSD latency or capacities beyond 1.2TB.
