The Dell Latitude 7212 is a fully rugged 2-in-1 built for outdoor and industrial use. Its 11.6 inch FHD touchscreen resolves 1920 x 1080 and supports glove or stylus input. A 7th Gen Intel Core i5-7300U with 16 GB soldered memory and a 128 GB M.2 2242 SSD runs Windows 10 Pro. The chassis measures 12 x 8.3 x .7 inches and weighs between 3 and 3.9 lbs.

Check dock, OS and storage limits

Verify that your existing Dell rugged docking station matches the single docking connector and dual RF pass-through on this unit. The installed Windows 10 Pro is not compatible with Windows 11, so software requiring the newer OS will not run. Storage uses one M.2 2242 slot with a 1 TB ceiling; the current 128 GB drive leaves room for expansion but no second drive bay exists. Memory is soldered at 16 GB with zero slots available.

Fanless thermal design under load

The tablet relies on a sealed, fanless chassis to meet rugged certifications, so sustained workloads throttle the dual-core i5-7300U to stay within thermal limits. Expect clock speeds to drop during long compiles, continuous data logging or extended video capture. The 65 watt AC adapter supplies enough power for the CPU and the 3-cell battery, but heavy peripheral draw through the USB 3.1 PowerShare port can reduce charge rate. Surface temperatures on the magnesium alloy back will rise noticeably during prolonged maximum output.
