Dual-socket server for virtualised workloads

The Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Gold 6126 processors, each providing 12 cores at 2.6 GHz. It ships with 512 GB of DDR4 memory arranged as sixteen 32 GB modules running at PC4-2400 speeds. The platform targets organisations that need dense compute and memory capacity for virtualisation, databases or container clusters.

Redundant 1100 W supplies and iDRAC9 management

Dual 1100 W power supplies deliver redundancy so a single unit failure does not interrupt operation. The iDRAC9 Enterprise controller provides out-of-band monitoring, remote console access and firmware updates without requiring the host operating system to be running. Eight 2.5-inch drive bays allow mixed storage configurations while the chassis airflow design supports sustained loads in standard data-centre racks.

H730P RAID controller and 10 Gb networking included

The integrated H730P controller manages the two installed 120 GB SATA SSDs and supports additional drives in the remaining bays with hardware RAID levels. Network connectivity comes from an Intel X550 adapter exposing two 10 Gb RJ45 ports and two 1 Gb RJ45 ports for management or backup traffic. The package also includes rack rails, a front bezel without LCD and power cords for immediate deployment.
