This HP ProLiant DL160 G9 is a 1U rackmount server system equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 ten-core processors running at 2.3 GHz. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory installed across 16 DIMM slots and includes two 1 TB 7.2K SATA drives managed by the B140i software RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1 and 5. Redundant hot-swap 550 W power supplies are fitted.

Suits compute-dense virtualization.

The dual ten-core CPUs deliver 40 logical threads with hyperthreading, making this unit suitable for virtualization hosts, application servers or database workloads that benefit from core density in a 1U footprint. The B140i controller supports SATA drives only, so environments requiring hardware RAID or SAS connectivity should consider a different platform. Maximum memory capacity is 64 GB, limiting very large in-memory datasets.

B140i software RAID controller limited to SATA

The installed B140i storage controller provides RAID 0, 1 and 5 exclusively for SATA devices. SAS drives are not supported by this controller, so storage expansion must use SATA media. The chassis offers eight 2.5-inch SFF bays, of which two are occupied by the included 1 TB drives.
