The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 fits two Xeon E5-2643 v3 processors and 8GB of DDR4 memory into a single rack unit. Redundant hot-swap 500W power supplies keep the platform running if one unit fails. The B140i controller provides software RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 for SATA drives only. Matrox G200 graphics with 16MB video memory handle basic console output.

Upgrade from single-socket or older Gen8 units

Moving to dual Xeon E5-2643 v3 adds twelve physical cores and twenty-four threads at 3.4GHz for workloads that scale across sockets. The jump is worth it when current cores sit at high utilisation and memory bandwidth limits throughput. The eight small-form-factor bays accept 2.5-inch SATA or SAS media for local storage expansion.

Build around 24 DIMM slots and dual CPU power

The chassis provides twenty-four DDR4 slots, twelve per processor, supporting registered ECC modules up to 64GB each at 2400MT/s. Two 500W redundant supplies deliver headroom for full CPU and memory population. No operating system or drives ship with the unit, so add SATA media, an OS licence and any optional media bay before deployment.
