The HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 12LFF chassis fits twelve 3.5-inch drive bays in a 2U form factor. A single Xeon E5-2690 v4 processor with fourteen cores at 2.6GHz and 128GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory handles virtualisation and database tasks. The P440ar SAS controller with expander manages the internal SATA drives. Integrated graphics and dual 800W hot-plug power supplies complete the baseline configuration. No drives are installed.

Memory headroom scales to three terabytes

The 128GB installed across DDR4 slots leaves substantial capacity for growth up to the 3TB platform maximum. The fourteen-core processor provides strong multi-thread throughput for typical consolidation ratios. Storage performance saturates at the SAS 12Gbps and SATA 6Gbps controller limits when all twelve bays are populated with high-IOPS drives. A second processor socket remains empty for future compute expansion if licensing and workload demand justify it.

Dual 800W supplies share load efficiently

Redundant flex-slot power supplies operate well below rated output with a single CPU and memory population, keeping fan speeds moderate in typical rack ambient temperatures. The iLO Advanced remote management chip draws minimal overhead while providing out-of-band monitoring and firmware update capability. Acoustic output remains suitable for standard server-room deployment rather than office proximity. Power draw scales linearly with drive count and second processor installation.
