Dell Precision 5860 compatible DDR5 kit

This 128 GB kit contains eight 16 GB registered DDR5 modules built for the Dell Precision 5860 tower workstation. Each stick runs at 4800 MT/s with a CAS latency of 40 at 1.1 V. The ECC RDIMM design targets professional workstations and servers that require error correction and registered signalling.

DDR5 4800 registered ECC limits

The modules operate at the standard DDR5 4800 speed with CL40 timing and 1.1 V voltage. Registered buffering adds one clock cycle of latency compared with unbuffered memory. ECC functionality requires a platform that supports error-correcting code; consumer desktop chipsets cannot use these modules. The 288-pin RDIMM form factor fits only DDR5 RDIMM slots.

1Rx8 organisation decides fit

Each 16 GB module uses a single-rank 1Rx8 layout, which determines how many ranks the memory controller sees per channel. The Precision 5860 must support 1Rx8 registered DIMMs at the full 128 GB capacity. Builders needing unbuffered non-ECC memory or a different rank configuration cannot use this kit.
