LGA 1151 server board for 95 W CPUs

The Supermicro MBD-X11SSQ-O is a Micro ATX server motherboard built around the Intel Q170 chipset and the LGA 1151 socket. It accepts 6th Generation Core i7, i5, i3, Pentium and Celeron processors with a thermal design power up to 95 W. Four 288-pin DDR4 slots support up to 64 GB of non-ECC unbuffered memory at 2133, 1866 or 1600 MHz. The board targets small-footprint servers and workstations that need dual gigabit LAN and six SATA 6 Gb/s ports with RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10.

Passive chipset cooling and modest VRM load

The Q170 PCH runs without an active cooler, so system noise depends entirely on the CPU cooler and case fans chosen by the builder. With a 95 W processor the voltage-regulator area sees moderate current, keeping VRM temperatures low in typical always-on server workloads. Two Intel gigabit controllers (I210-AT and PHY I219LM) add negligible heat. Idle power draw is dominated by the installed CPU and memory population rather than the board itself.

Steady throughput under continuous multi-threaded

Under sustained full-core utilisation the board delivers power within the 95 W envelope without throttling, provided the CPU cooler is rated for that TDP. The four DDR4 channels maintain rated 2133 MHz bandwidth during long compute runs. Dual LAN ports sustain 1000 Mbps line rate in both directions simultaneously. Six SATA 6 Gb/s ports and the M.2 PCIe x2 slot keep storage throughput stable during extended RAID rebuilds or backup windows.
