The Toshiba Canvio Basics 2TB drive adds external capacity to a PC through a USB 3.0 connection. It arrives formatted NTFS for Windows 11, 10 and 8.1 so files can be dragged across immediately. No software installation is required and the drive draws power from the USB port.

The USB 3.0 interface tops out at 5 Gbit per second while the USB 2.0 fallback reaches 480 Mbit per second. Real-world throughput will sit below those peaks and large batches of small files will move more slowly than a single contiguous stream.
Pocket-sized matte enclosure
The matte black shell measures 3.1 by 4.3 by 0.55 inches and weighs 0.51 lb, so it slips into a pocket or bag without bulk. A USB 3.0 cable is included in the box. Mac owners must reformat the drive before use because the default NTFS layout is read-only on macOS 12.0, 11.5 and 10.15.
