The WaveShare Nano Base Board (B) is a 56 x 41 mm carrier designed for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 Lite and eMMC variants. It provides a standard CM4 socket so developers can evaluate the module or integrate it directly into finished products. The tiny footprint suits space-constrained embedded projects and rapid prototyping.
Sustained Operation on Passive Cooling
With no active cooling fitted, the board relies on the module's own thermal management during prolonged workloads. The minimal PCB area limits heat-spreading capacity, so continuous heavy compute tasks will throttle the CM4 sooner than larger carrier designs. Builders planning long-duration loads should add external heatsinks or airflow.
Low-Power I/O and Silent Running
A single 5 V supply powers the board, drawing only the current the attached CM4 and peripherals require. Silent operation is guaranteed because there are no fans or moving parts. The Gigabit Ethernet RJ45, USB 2.0 Type-A, mini HDMI, 3.5 mm audio jack, MIPI DSI and CSI connectors all function within the module's standard power envelope.

Does the 56 x 41mm board run hot or draw much power during continuous operation?
The board itself has no active cooling and draws only the 5V supply required by the fitted Compute Module 4; heat and power depend on the CM4 variant you install.
What extra parts must I already have before this base board will boot?
You need a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 Lite or eMMC module, a 5V power source, and a micro SD card if you choose a Lite module without onboard eMMC.
Will my existing Raspberry Pi HATs plug straight into the 40PIN GPIO header?
