The Dell Latitude 5400 is a 14-inch laptop built around a quad-core Intel Core i5-8365U processor running at 1.6 GHz with a 4.10 GHz maximum boost speed. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory in a single user-replaceable module and a 256 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe solid-state drive. The 1366 x 768 non-touch display uses a 16:9 aspect ratio. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles visual output. The unit is new and covered by manufacturer warranty until 26 October 2022.

Connectivity and expansion for mobile work

A single USB Type-C port supports USB 3.2 Gen 2, DisplayPort and Power Delivery for docking or charging. Three USB Type-A ports operate at USB 3.1 or USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds. Video output is provided by an HDMI 1.4 port. Wired networking uses a 10/100 Mb/s Fast Ethernet RJ45 jack. Wireless connectivity comes from Wi-Fi 5 (802.11 ac) with MU-MIMO and Bluetooth 5.0. An SD card slot and a 3.5 mm headset jack round out the I/O. One memory slot remains free, allowing expansion up to 32 GB total capacity.

Sustained performance with 68 Wh battery

The 4-cell 68 Wh battery powers the system during extended periods away from mains power. The 6 MB L3 cache helps the processor maintain throughput on prolonged workloads. Integrated graphics share system memory, so sustained graphical tasks will draw from the 8 GB DDR4 pool. Passive thermal management is designed for typical office productivity rather than continuous heavy compute. Fan activity increases under load but the chassis is not built for workstation-class sustained rendering or compilation.
