The Dell PowerEdge R430 is a 1U rack server designed for dense compute environments that need redundant power and hardware RAID in a single rack unit. It ships with one Intel Xeon E5-2603 v3 six-core processor running at 1.6 GHz and supports a second CPU for expanded throughput. The platform targets IT teams running virtualised workloads, database instances or internal applications where uptime matters.

Memory ceiling and RAID flexibility

The system arrives with 128 GB of DDR4 memory installed across its 12 DIMM slots, reaching the processor's supported maximum of 384 GB when both sockets are populated. The integrated Perc H730 controller provides 1 GB cache and 12 Gbps SAS connectivity, enabling RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across up to eight 2.5-inch hot-plug drive bays. No drives or trays are included, so storage capacity and redundancy are defined entirely by the disks you add.

Single-socket performance boundary

With one E5-2603 v3 installed, the server delivers six cores at a fixed 1.6 GHz base frequency, limiting peak compute density for heavily threaded tasks. Buyers who need more cores per socket or higher clock speeds must either add the second supported processor or select a different platform, because this CPU cannot be upgraded to a higher-tier model within the same generation.
