The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a 1U rack server built around a single Intel Xeon Platinum 8260L processor running at 2.4 GHz with 24 cores. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory and a PERC H740P RAID controller. The chassis supports four 3.5-inch drive bays using SATA drives. Remote management is provided by iDRAC9 with an Enterprise licence.

Memory scales to 7.68 TB for large datasets

Installed memory sits at 64 GB, leaving substantial headroom toward the 7.68 TB maximum capacity across the platform. The four 3.5-inch bays accept SATA hard drives or SSDs for capacity-focused storage. The PERC H740P controller manages RAID levels for redundancy or performance.
