This 2U ProLiant DL380 G9 ships with two Xeon E5-2670 v3 processors, each offering twelve cores at 2.3 GHz. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed across the twenty-four DIMM slots. The Smart Array P440 controller with 4 GB FBWC manages the two 1 TB SAS drives in a choice of RAID levels. Dual 500 W hot-swap power supplies provide redundancy from day one.

Built for density and service

Twenty-four small-form-factor bays sit behind a tool-less front bezel, so drives can be swapped without shutting down. The P440’s 12 Gb and 6 Gb SAS links keep the backplane saturated while the flash-backed write cache protects data during power loss. Redundant fans and the C610 chipset layout keep thermals predictable under sustained load. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics core handles remote console duties without a discrete card.

Check memory ceiling and drive count

The board tops out at 16 GB with the current processors, so workloads that need more RAM will require a CPU upgrade before additional DIMMs help. Only two drive trays are populated; the remaining twenty-two bays need trays and drives if you plan to expand. Verify that your rack rails accept a 2U chassis and that the PDU can feed two 500 W supplies. No operating system is included.
