The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 occupies 2U of rack space and ships with one Intel Xeon E5-2609v3 six-core processor running at 1.9GHz. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 ECC memory are installed across the 24 available DIMM slots. Two 500GB 7.2K SATA drives provide baseline storage on the B140i software RAID controller.

Redundant hot-swap power with dual 500W units

Two 500W hot-swap power supplies deliver N+1 redundancy, allowing a failed unit to be replaced without shutting down the server. The 2U chassis uses managed fan cooling that adjusts speed to component temperatures, keeping acoustic output suitable for standard data-centre aisles. Power draw scales with the single-processor configuration and the two installed SATA drives.

B140i software RAID limited to SATA devices

The onboard B140i controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 but only for SATA drives; it cannot manage SAS or NVME volumes. Eight 2.5-inch SFF bays are populated with the two included drives, leaving six bays free for additional SATA storage.
