The B140i controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 for the SATA drives, but write performance under continuous load will be limited by the software RAID implementation and the 7.2K spindle speed. Memory bandwidth scales with the processor capability up to 2400 MT/s across the 24 DIMM slots, while the Matrox G200eH2 graphics provide only basic display output.

The deciding specification

The B140i controller handles SATA drives only; SAS or NVME devices are not supported on this controller. Buyers who need hardware RAID, SAS connectivity or NVME support must add a different controller. The chassis provides eight 2.5-inch SFF bays with optional expansion to 16 or 24 bays, but the installed configuration is fixed at two SATA drives.
