The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 occupies 2U of rack space and ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 twelve-core processor at 2.3GHz. It targets environments that need high core density and redundant power in a standard chassis without pre-installed storage drives.
The Smart HBA H240ar provides RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across eight SFF bays. Its 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA interfaces set the practical throughput ceiling for any installed drives, and the controller does not support NVME devices directly in these bays.
The system arrives with 32GB of ECC registered DDR4 across 24 DIMM slots, leaving ample headroom to reach the 3TB architectural limit using 64GB modules. Memory speed is governed by the processor capability up to 2400MT/s, so total capacity scales far beyond the factory configuration.

The system board accepts up to two processors. A second E5-2670 v3 would double cores to 24 and unlock the remaining 12 memory slots for a total of 24 DIMM positions.
Each of the 12 cores runs at 2.3 GHz base frequency; with hyper-threading the operating system sees 24 logical threads for parallel workloads.
The H240ar provides 12 Gb SAS and 6 Gb SATA connectivity, so SAS SSDs can reach their rated 12 Gb/s while SATA drives are capped at 6 Gb/s.
