Socket and chipset

The MSI H81M-P33 is a micro ATX motherboard built around the Intel H81 chipset and the LGA 1150 socket. It accepts Core i7, i5, i3, Pentium and Celeron processors from that generation. Two 240-pin slots support up to 16 GB of DDR3 memory at 1600, 1333 or 1066 MHz in dual-channel mode.

Expansion and I/O layout

A single PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot handles a graphics card while one PCI Express x1 slot is available for add-in cards. Two SATA 6 Gb/s ports connect storage drives. The rear panel provides two USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, PS/2 keyboard and mouse connectors, a DVI-D output, and a Gigabit LAN port driven by the Realtek 8111G controller. Onboard audio uses the Realtek ALC887 codec for 8-channel sound.

Military Class 4 and BIOS tools

Military Class 4 components are specified for enhanced stability during extended operation. The M-Flash utility lets you back up or restore the BIOS to a USB flash drive, reducing rewrite cycles on the firmware chip. Live Update 5 automates BIOS and driver updates to keep the platform current without manual intervention.
