Socket LGA 1700 platform

The MSI PRO Z790-VC WIFI is an ATX motherboard built around the Intel Z790 chipset for Intel Core 12th, 13th and 14th Gen processors. It targets professional users and content creators who need a stable, high-capacity foundation for demanding workloads. Four DDR5 slots support up to 256 GB of memory with XMP 3.0 profiles reaching 7200 MHz. A 12+1+1 Duet Rail power system with dual 8-pin and 4-pin CPU connectors feeds high-wattage CPUs.

Extended heatsink and wireless kit

An extended PWM heatsink, 7W/mK MOSFET pads and choke pads dissipate VRM heat under sustained loads. The M.2 Shield Frozr covers the primary slot to prevent SSD throttling. A pre-installed Wi-Fi 7 module occupies the M.2 Key-E slot and delivers 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands with 320 MHz channels up to 5.8 Gbps. Bluetooth 2 is included. Wired networking uses a Realtek 2.5 Gbps LAN controller. Rear I/O adds a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 20 Gbps port.

Check CPU cooler clearance and drive lengths

Verify that your CPU cooler fits within the ATX board layout and does not block the primary PCIe 5.0 x16 slot or the VRM heatsink. The first M.2 slot accepts 22110, 2280, 2260 and 2242 devices from the CPU via PCIe 4.0 x4. The second slot takes 2280, 2260 and 2242 drives from the chipset via PCIe 4.0 x4 or SATA. Four SATA 6 Gbps ports support RAID 0, 1, 5, 10. M.2 NVMe RAID 0 and 1 are also available.
