Not for non-server platforms
Systems that require unbuffered non-ECC memory, a different DDR generation, or a pin count other than 240 cannot use these modules. Boards limited to single-rank DIMMs or to capacities below 4 GB per slot are also incompatible. Mixing x4 and x8 chips inside the same bank is not supported by the validated motherboards.
Installed in matched pairs
The Supermicro boards validated for this kit operate in dual-channel mode with three banks of two sockets each, so modules must be added in identical pairs to enable that bandwidth. The platform maximum is 48 GB across all six sockets, and a 64-bit operating system is required to address the full amount.
