This new Dell 400-ALCR hard drive adds six terabytes of storage to a compatible Dell PowerVault MD3400 storage system. The 3.5-inch form factor fits standard internal bays and the 12 Gb/s SAS interface provides fast data transfer for near-line workloads. It is built for continuous operation in enterprise storage arrays. The 7200 rpm spindle speed balances capacity and throughput for bulk data retention.

Hot-swappable SAS integration

The drive connects through a 12 Gb/s SAS backplane and supports hot-swap replacement without powering down the enclosure. A SAS host bus adapter or RAID controller with matching port speed is required to utilise the interface. No wireless or additional network hardware is involved. The near-line designation suits workloads that need high capacity with moderate access frequency.

Capacity and workload fit
