Purpose and fit

The Eaton 9PX1000RT is a double-conversion online UPS rated at 1000 VA and 900 watts. It suits small servers, network gear or workstations that need continuous power conditioning in a 2U rack or tower form factor. The unit accepts 100 to 140 V input at 50 or 60 Hz and delivers 120 V output through eight NEMA 5-15R receptacles. Buyers who require longer runtime than 30 minutes or higher capacity than 1000 VA should consider other models.

Included hardware and software

The package provides a 4-post rail kit and tower pedestals for flexible mounting, plus an RS-232 serial cable and a USB cable for local management. An Intelligent Power Software Suite CD is supplied for integration with virtualised environments and graceful shutdown scripting. The replaceable battery design allows on-site service without removing the UPS from the rack. No additional connectivity cards or environmental sensors are bundled.

Capacity and headroom

At full 900-watt load the battery runtime is approximately 1 minute, extending to about 30 minutes at lighter loads within the 501 to 1000 VA range. The double-conversion topology maintains up to 93 percent efficiency while isolating connected equipment from voltage sags, surges and frequency drift. The NEMA 5-15P input plug limits source circuits to 15 amps, so the UPS cannot draw more than the branch circuit allows. Heavier loads or extended autonomy needs exceed this unit's capability.
