Server-grade memory upgrade

This OWC module delivers 128GB of DDR4 ECC Load Reduced memory built for Gigabyte G482-Z53, G482-Z54, G492-H80, G492-HA0 and G492-Z51 platforms. It targets administrators who need maximum registered capacity in validated server and workstation slots. The module will not work in standard desktop computers and cannot be mixed with unbuffered or registered ECC DIMMs.

Capacity and headroom

A single 128GB 4Rx4 LRDIMM provides dense registered memory for virtualisation hosts, database nodes and NAS systems that benefit from large working sets. The Load Reduced buffer reduces electrical load on the memory bus, allowing higher total capacity than standard registered DIMMs at the same speed. Systems limited to lower DDR4 frequencies will still operate at 2133, 2400, 2666 or 2933MHz.

Build and daily implications

The 288-pin 1.2V module has no heat spreader, so airflow across the DIMM slots must be sufficient for sustained server workloads. JEDEC and RoHS compliance ensures the upgrade is warranty-safe and matches OEM specifications. Installation is a straightforward DIMM swap, but population rules for LRDIMMs on the target Gigabyte boards must be followed to avoid boot failures.
