The Lenovo Tesla V100 is a plug-in GPU designed for data-centre and workstation workloads. The passive cooler assumes directed chassis airflow rather than an onboard fan.
With a passive cooler the card relies on steady system airflow to maintain thermal limits during long-running compute jobs. Clock rates will settle at the level that the enclosure cooling can support continuously. Workloads that saturate the 16 GB frame buffer for hours should be matched with adequate rack ventilation.
The card installs in a standard PCIe slot and moves data across that bus to the CPU and system memory. Bandwidth and latency are bounded by the generation and lane count of the host platform. Large model transfers will saturate the link before the on-board compute resources are fully utilised.
