Socket AM4 platform for Ryzen builders

The MSI MAG X570S TORPEDO MAX is an ATX motherboard built around the AMD X570 chipset and the Socket AM4 interface. It accepts AMD Ryzen 5000, 4000 G, 3000 and 2000 series desktop processors. Four DIMM slots support dual-channel DDR4 up to 128 GB at speeds from 1866 to 5100 MHz. The board targets enthusiasts who want a full-size layout with current-generation connectivity.

Expansion layout and rear I/O

A primary PCIe 4.0 x16 slot runs from the processor when a Ryzen 5000 or 3000 series CPU is installed, while a second x16-sized slot and additional x1 slots connect through the chipset. Two M.2 sockets and six SATA III ports provide storage flexibility. The rear panel supplies two USB 3.2 Gen 2 10 Gbps Type-A ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 10 Gbps Type-C internal header, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 5 Gbps internal headers, six USB 2.0 ports, 7.1-channel audio with S/PDIF, a 2.5 Gbps LAN port and a 1 Gbps LAN port.

Passive chipset cooling and power delivery

The X570S chipset uses a fanless heatsink, removing a moving part and reducing system noise. A 10+2+1 Duet Rail power phase design feeds the CPU socket. Dual 8-pin CPU power connectors are present. The Realtek ALC4080 codec handles audio, while the twin Realtek 8125B and 8111H controllers manage networking without active cooling.
