The ADATA SMAR-980B-1TCS is a 1TB XPG BLADE drive built on 3D NAND with an SMI SM2508 controller and 1GB DRAM cache. It targets gamers and AI workloads on the latest Intel and AMD laptop platforms, and is also validated for PS5 expansion.
The single-sided 2280 module fits thin-and-light chassis without extra cooling hardware. A bundled heatsink keeps the controller within the 0°C to 70°C operating window during sustained PCIe 5.0 x4 transfers, so throttling is avoided in compact enclosures.
Sequential reads up to 14000 MBps and writes up to 10000 MBps cut game load times and asset streaming latency. Random performance of 1,600,000 read IOPS and 1,650,000 write IOPS benefits heavy multitasking. The 740TB TBW rating supports the jump when workloads demand sustained Gen5 bandwidth.
