The Dell PowerEdge R650 is a 1U rack server built for dense enterprise workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4316 processors, each running at 2.3GHz with 20 cores and a 3.4GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 64GB of DDR4 2666MHz registered ECC memory across four 16GB modules. A PERC H755 RAID controller with 8GB NV cache manages the storage subsystem.

10-Bay SAS Storage with RAID Flexibility

Ten 2.5-inch 600GB 10K SAS drives provide 6TB of raw capacity in a 12Gb/s interface. The H755 controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, allowing a choice between maximum space, redundancy or performance. The 10-bay chassis fills the front panel, so adding more drives requires a different chassis or external enclosure. Memory scales to 2TB across 32 DDR4 slots for larger datasets.

Redundant hot-swap 1400-watt platinum power supplies maintain uptime during a unit failure or maintenance. The 1U form factor uses high-speed fans to move air through the dense component layout, which raises acoustic output compared with tower or 2U designs. Power draw scales with CPU load, drive activity and memory population, so typical operation sits well below the supply maximum.
