Dual 14-core Xeon server for virtualization

The Dell PowerEdge T430 ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2660 v4 processors running at 2.0 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo. Each CPU provides 14 cores for a total of 28 threads across dual sockets. 128 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory fills eight of the twelve available slots. The platform supports up to 384 GB when all slots are populated.

5U chassis with hot-swap bays and redundant power

The 5U tower enclosure holds sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays behind the front panel. A Dell PERC HBA330 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA controller manages the four installed 960 GB enterprise SATA SSDs. Dual 750 W platinum power supplies provide redundant hot-swap power. Integrated dual-port gigabit Ethernet and iDRAC 8 Express remote management are built in. The front bezel and ready rails are not included.

Storage controller and drives ready for arrays

The HBA330 controller presents the four 960 GB SSDs as raw block devices for software RAID or host-based storage spaces. iDRAC 8 Express enables out-of-band monitoring, firmware updates, and virtual console access without an operating system. Builders who need hardware RAID acceleration or additional drive bays beyond the sixteen provided should plan for a different controller or enclosure.
