The HPE DL380 Gen9 4LFF server is a 2U rack system built for virtualisation, database and general-purpose workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2637 v4 processors running at 3.5GHz and 256GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. The 4LFF chassis supports up to four 3.5-inch SATA or SAS drives, which are not included. Integrated management is provided by HPE iLO Advanced.

Installation notes and common issues

The unit arrives with BIOS and firmware already updated to the latest stable version and has passed full diagnostics and burn-in testing. Rail kits are available on request but are not included by default. Drive caddies for the 3.5-inch bays must be sourced separately if they are not already on hand. The dual 500W Flex Slot power supplies use a proprietary connector, so verify PDU compatibility before racking.

Sustained-load behaviour

Dual Xeon E5-2637 v4 CPUs with 15MB cache each deliver consistent throughput for multi-threaded applications under continuous load. The P440 SAS controller manages RAID arrays without a dedicated cache module, so write-heavy workloads may see lower sustained IOPS compared to flash-backed controllers. Dual 500W supplies provide N+N redundancy, keeping the system running if one unit fails during extended operation. The 1GbE 332T two-port adapter handles baseline network traffic but can saturate under heavy storage replication.
