Cools the Compute Module 4 IO board with a 40×40×10 mm 12 V PWM fan running at 5000 RPM
This 12V PWM fan is built specifically for the Compute Module 4 IO Board and the CM4-IO-BOARD-CASE-A enclosure. It connects through a 4PIN reverse-proof connector that prevents incorrect insertion. The 40×40×10mm frame fits the designated mounting points on the board. Speed is adjustable via PWM so the system can balance airflow and noise.
Passive heatsinks on the CM4 IO Board can saturate under sustained compute loads, causing thermal throttling. Adding this fan moves air directly over the module and power circuitry, keeping clocks stable during long builds, compile jobs or data-logging sessions. The jump is worth it whenever the workload runs for minutes rather than seconds, or when the enclosure limits natural convection.
The fan requires a 12V PWM header; it will not run from a 5V fan connector or a simple two-wire header. Speed control depends on the board generating a PWM signal — without it the fan stays at full 5000 RPM or does not start, depending on the header implementation. The reverse-proof connector only fits one way, so builders must align the key before seating it.
