Dual-band AC1200 router for home and small office
The TP-Link Archer A6 is a Wi-Fi 5 wireless router that delivers up to 300 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and up to 867 Mbps on the 5 GHz band. It uses four fixed external antennas and one internal antenna with beamforming to extend coverage. MU-MIMO allows simultaneous communication with up to two devices for improved efficiency. The Tether app provides straightforward network management from a mobile device.
Gigabit wired backbone with access-point flexibility
One 10/100/1000M WAN port and four 10/100/1000M LAN ports give full Gigabit throughput for wired clients such as PCs, consoles or NAS units. The router supports both wireless router and access point modes, so it can serve as the primary gateway or extend an existing wired network. Power comes from an included 12 V 1 A adapter. Management is handled through any Java-enabled browser or the Tether app on Android and iOS.
Upgrade from single-band or non-MU-MIMO routers
Replacing a single-band 2.4 GHz router adds the cleaner 5 GHz band for streaming and gaming while keeping legacy device support. Moving up from an older AC router without MU-MIMO reduces contention when multiple phones, laptops or smart-home gadgets are active. The jump is worthwhile when the household runs several concurrent video streams or online sessions and needs the extra spatial streams and antenna gain.
