A single Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 ten-core processor running at 2.3 GHz delivers 20 virtual threads with hyper-threading. Eight gigabytes of DDR4 memory are installed across 24 DIMM slots. The system includes three 600 GB 15K SAS drives and a PERC H730 RAID controller.

SAS 6 Gbps interface limits drive throughput

The installed 600 GB drives operate on a 6 Gbps SAS interface, which caps sustained transfer rates below the 12 Gbps capability of the H730 controller. Twelve bays accept SAS or SATA drives, but the backplane speed remains at 6 Gbps for the supplied drives. RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 are supported by the controller.
