ROG Strix RTX 4080 16GB overview

The ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4080 is a 16GB graphics card built for 4K gaming and professional rendering. It uses the NVIDIA Ada Lovelace architecture with 16GB of GDDR6X memory on a 256-bit interface. The card connects via PCI Express 4.0 and draws up to 320W through a single 16-pin power connector. A 750W power supply is recommended for stable operation.

Sustained load thermal behaviour

The 3.5-slot cooler uses three Axial-tech fans that deliver 23% more airflow than the previous design. A patented vapor chamber with a milled heatspreader contacts the GPU die directly to lower temperatures under continuous load. The diecast shroud, frame and backplate are vented to maximise airflow through the massive fin array. Digital power control with high-current power stages and 15K capacitors maintains stable voltage during extended sessions.

PCIe 4.0 and display interface limits

The PCI Express 4.0 x16 link provides sufficient bandwidth for the RTX 4080 without saturating the bus. Display outputs consist of two HDMI 2.1 ports and three DisplayPort 1.4a connectors supporting up to 7680 x 4320 resolution. HDCP 2.3 compliance enables protected 4K content playback across four simultaneous monitors. The card measures 357.6mm long and occupies 3.5 slots in an ATX chassis.
